Ada pelbagai sumber hadith mengenai kebaikan madu. Walaupun
antaranya ada dikatakan hadith yang lemah ('dhoif'), namun ianya
tidaklah palsu ('mawdu`').
Sumber-sumber tertentu ada mencatatkan kebaikan madu, daripada Al-Bukhari dalam bab perubatan:-

| Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: A man came to the Prophet and said, "My brother has some abdominal trouble." The Prophet said to him "Let him drink honey." The man came for the second time and the Prophet said to him, 'Let him drink honey." He came for the third time and the Prophet said, "Let him drink honey." He returned again and said, "I have done that ' The Prophet then said, "Allah has said the truth, but your brother's abdomen has told a lie. Let him drink honey." So he made him drink honey and he was cured. | |
Diriwayatkan oleh Abu Said Al-Khudri:- Seorang lelaki datang menemui Rasulullah dan mengadu,"Saudaraku mempunyai masalah perut." Rasul memberitahu, "Berikan dia madu." Lelaki itu datang buat kali kedua dan mengadu masalah yang sama, Rasul mengulangi, "Berikan dia madu." Lelaki tersebut kemudiannya datang kali ketiga dan mengadu, "Aku sudah memberinya madu tetapi dia masih sakit." Rasulullah pun berkata. "Allah menyatakan yang benar, tetapi perut saudaramu telah berbohong. Biarkan dia minum madu." Lantas lelaki berkenaan memaksa saudaranta meminum madu lalu sembuh.
